Small Works (click here for a complete list)
The Small Works Roster is used by Port of Whitman County for public works projects that are less than $200,000. Public works are defined as "all work, construction, alteration, repair or improvements, or improvements that are executed at the cost of the state or any municipality." For projects at or more than $200,000 the Port advertises in the Whitman County Gazette and other regional newspapers and publications.
Small Works projects are not advertised in the newspaper or other publications. Only companies on the Port’s Small Works Roster will be invited to bid. The Port of Whitman County accepts applications for the Small Works Roster effective Jan. 1, 2008, thru Dec. 31, 2008. Applicants must be licensed contractors in the State of Washington.
The application form lists specific types of work in general categories including: Building trades, roads, landscaping services, snow removal, sweeping parking lots and streets, traffic signal installation, maintenance and repair, tree trimming and removal, city utilities (communication, electrical, fiber optic cable, sanitary, storm drain, water) installation and repair, and document scanning and microfilming.
When using the Small Works Roster to award contracts in the amount of $200,000 or less, the Port will invite proposals from appropriate contractors on the small works roster and, whenever possible, will invite at least one proposal from a minority or woman contractor who otherwise qualifies. The contract will be awarded to the contractor submitting the lowest responsive bid.
Applications must be submitted on the form prepared by the Port of Whitman County. Download the Small Works Roster Application here. Applications are also available at Port of Whitman County offices.
